About

This site closely follows my personal attempts at the handmade bath and body industry. While I will not be sticking to only soap, it will be my main challenge. Since, at the time of writing this page, I have never actually made soap, it also serves as a newbie-friendly guide. If I can learn to do it, so can you.

The soap featured on this website will be made (primarily) with the Cold Process method. That is, you mix the ingredients, pour it, unmold and cut it, and wait for it to cure for a looong time. While not insta-gratification (like melt-and-pour, which I may also try, though I have tried it before and while really fun, it’s not quite what I’m looking for) the feeling of holding something that’s the result of weeks and weeks of … waiting is known to be incredible! I just want my slice of happy hobby pie.

I’m fairly young. I’m legal, but I’m not ready to pop out children anytime soon. I attend college, and I am struggling to get my geoscience degree. (I haven’t quite decided which geoscience degree that will be yet…)

I know absolutely nothing about actual soapmaking. That is to say, I know the theoretics. I can probably get on a message board and sound like a professional. But the truth is, I’m a complete newbie! I have never even held a stick blender. (Well, at this point in time. In the near future I hope to change that…!) Lye scares the crap out of me. (That’s why I’m a geoscientist! Not a chemist! Rocks > chemicals!!) I can’t do swirls, I can’t do textured tops. I can do melt and pour, but that’s another story…
